Corks are popping this month at Vancouver’s third floor design. It marks the end of a very promising first year for lingerie duo Tiffany Ho and Brenda Li. Specializing in boutique items for the young and hip, third floor began selling Ho and Li’s Spring 04 Frivolous Necessities line only last fall. The first sale was to a trendy boutique Life of Riley in the company’s home city.

“Not only is the line unque and colourful, it’s well designed and exceuted,” says Elizabth Davey, Life of Riley buyer. “Many pieces work really well worn as a top, as well as lingerie.”

Both designers are still in their mid-20s, and have previous experience in the lingerie industry from the retail buying side. “What you wear under your clothes is as much an expression as is outerwear,” says Li. “Our collection includes luxury fabrics and colors unconventional to underwear.” This translates to satin, mesh, sports mesh and unconventional woven fabrics. The line is entirely manufactured in Vancouver, and made of materials found on frequent forays to the Far East. “Our concept is ‘It may be lingerie, but don’t be afraid to wear it out,” says Ho.
